Back-Tracking highlights interesting, lesser-known moments in skydiving through the years. These photos are often unearthed from boxes in the attic, old photo albums and dimly lit DZ closets. Please send submissions to communications@uspa.org.

Fourteen skydivers from West Point, Virginia, link up over the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina on a world-record-breaking jump in 1988. Along with 86 other skydivers, these jumpers landed in the raceway in front of more than 200,000 spectators to help celebrate NASCAR driver Richard Petty’s 200 wins. The jump, organized by Paul Fayard, owner of Franklin County SPC in Louisburg, North Carolina, and Don Carrington of Southern Skies Demonstration Team, broke a world record by having 100 skydivers under canopy at one time on an exhibition jump.
