Dennis Hayes, D-1665, shoots accuracy at Des Moines Sport Parachute Club in 1966, before founding the Iowa State Sport Parachute Club later that year. Hayes first competed on the national stage at the 1972 USPA National Championships in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, when the only events were style, accuracy and 10-man star.

He would go on to compete in 50 consecutive National Championships, missing only 2020 when the event was canceled due to COVID-19, from 1972 to 2022. Hayes competed in style until the event was discontinued at USPA meets, and competed in accuracy each of those 50 years. Nearly one-fifth of his 7,550 jumps are on a Para-Commander.

All that is known of this photographer (by Parachutist) is the nickname—and last name—“Boots.”
