Jumpers Set 49-Way Mexican Record

On Tuesday, April 17, jumpers made history at USPA Foreign Affiliate Skydive Cuautla in Morelos, Mexico. At 2 p.m., 49 jumpers exited three planes flying at 16,000 feet and built the Mexican Record for Largest Formation Skydive.

Captains Eduardo Correa, Antonio Montaño, Alejandro Novoa and Sergio Alfonso Saavedra led the team, which had prepared for the attempts for several months. The team made five attempts at the record April 16, the day before its success.

After making adjustments, the team got into total synchronicity and achieved the record during its third jump on April 17. The jumpers dedicated the record to Úrsula Hernández Osnaya, who died in a canopy collision a month earlier. The formation, originally planned as a 50-way, included a missing slot in her honor.
