USPA Members Approve Bylaw Changes at Annual Meeting

On Thursday, March 13, USPA held its 2025 General Membership Meeting in Daytona Beach, Florida, in conjunction with the Parachute Industry Association Symposium. This year’s meeting included the standard elements, such as member comments and proposals to the board and the Executive Director’s Report, as well as an important vote on two proposed changes to USPA’s bylaws, which regarded voting rights and who can sit on the board.

This year’s meeting included the standard elements, such as member comments and proposals to the board and the Executive Director’s Report, as well as an important vote on two proposed changes to USPA’s bylaws, which regarded voting rights and who can sit on the board. Proposal One was to remove the ability for members who reside outside the U.S. from voting for a USPA Regional Director and influencing an election in a region in which they do not reside by amending Article V Section 4 of the USPA Governance Manual to read: “Members may not vote for a USPA Regional Director candidate outside the voting member's region.” Proposal Two was to amend Section 3-1.3A of the USPA Governance Manual to include being "a U.S. Citizen or reside in the U.S." as a candidate qualification for consideration for election to the board.

The first motion passed, with 4,253 "yes" votes, 539 "no" votes and 1,239 abstentions. The second motion also passed, with 4,502 "yes" votes, 638 "no" votes and 891 abstentions.
