Skydivers Mourn Pres. George H.W. Bush

On the morning of March 26, 1997, news media worldwide featured photos like this one with the story of a former U.S. President making a skydive the day before. The story and the photos of a skydiving former president received “above the fold” prominence in most newspapers and media reports around the world and was seen by tens if not hundreds of millions. President George H.W. Bush went on to make four more jumps, his last on his 90th birthday in 2014. He knew why we jump; he was truly one of us. We mourn his passing this past Friday. Blue skies, Mr. President. (An upcoming Parachutist will recount President Bush’s involvement in skydiving.)
