Safety and Training

  • Amended the Basic Safety Regulations to require the reporting of any injury sustained on a student jump. 
  • Added clarifying language to USPA camera-flying recommendations. 
  • Introduced alternative options for first-jump-course requirements for tandem examiner candidates. 
  • Amended the BSRs so that the minimum-age requirement is dictated by the jurisdiction where the jump takes place. 
  • Clarified language regarding currency requirements for certain demonstration jumps. 
  • Approved the redesigned Instructional Rating Manual, scheduled for release in 2026. 

Membership Services

  • Consulted with USPA staff on continued efforts to optimize uspa.org
  • Recognized USPA members who have received Fédération Aéronautique Internationale & National Aeronautic Association Awards 
    •  United Parachute Technologies, recipient of the FAI Honorary Group Diploma 
    •  Joseph Kittinger, B-6215, recipient of the FAI Air Sport Medal. 

Group Membership

  • Introduced a drop zone safety inspection self-audit checklist, to be made available to all USPA Group Member drop zones. 
  • Directed USPA Staff to produce graphic materials for drop zones regarding aircraft safety protocols. 

𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 

  • Expanded board-member responsibilities in order to better represent international members and international affiliate drop zones. 

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 

  • Added guidance to SCM Chapter 1 regarding participation minimum thresholds specific to disciplines. 
  • Changed the bid deadline for USPA National Collegiate Skydiving Championships from June 1 to June 15. 
  • Revised language in the SCM to allow canopy-piloting championships hosts to provide multiple approach directions in the carved speed event. 
  • Introduced a 3-round mixed-team speed skydiving event, with two-person teams consisting of one male and one female competitor, overlaid onto the final three rounds of the individual event. 
  • Amended the SCM to disallow BSR waivers for solo perfrmance record attempts, which will retire existing distance of fall, WS time of fall and WS distance of flight records. 

The full minutes of the 2025 USPA Summer Board of Directors meeting will be made available in the coming weeks at uspa.org/bod. The upcoming winter meeting will be held February 13-15, 2026, in Los Angeles, CA.
