We held a meet and greet and then led everyone to 3 separate safety classes (Canopy, Airplane and Gear). This was followed by a class covering our emergency procedures. The general consensus following these classes was extremely positive.

Over 150 people attended Start Skydiving’s Safety Day on March 3rd at the American Legion Post in Franklin, Ohio. Two people won free AFF jumps and two others won 10 and 20 jump packages. Pizza was provided by the DZ. The big takeaway: look out for each other, get coaching, and ask questions!

Ches Judy award recipient: Eric Boerger
Awarded for: The Ches Judy Award was presented to Eric Boerger on March 3 at Start Skydiving’s Safety Day. Eric has been skydiving for 12 years and believes in putting back into the sport what he gets out of it. He is an extremely conscientious individual and sought after by many of our jumpers, regardless of experience level, for advice on formations, canopy flying, load organizing, wing, what works or doesn’t, and what is safe or not. Eric encourages students and enjoys guiding then in the right direction. Most weekends Eric can be found talking to students. Start Skydiving is extremely proud and grateful to have Eric as one of our regulars.

After reviewing 2011 fatalities, we continued with USPA recommended topics followed by Romanian skydiving legislation and a doctor presented 1h30" of first aid course, where everybody could practice also. The day ended with an evening, full of stories, at the bar.
