As expected, the FAA has published the new final rule that will lengthen the parachute repack cycle from 120 days to 180. The final rule was published in the November 19 Federal Register and takes effect December 19. As issued, the rule will allow the use of main and reserve parachutes up to 180 days beyond the date of repack. USPA and PIA representatives are meeting with FAA officials today to get clarification on some aspects of the rule.
